St Paul's has long cultivated its musical tradition.
As well as a regular Sunday Choir
the St Paul Choral Society - a local Choir directed by the Organist, Dr Agius Muscat - sings at certain significant services.
The Cathedral often welcomes
visiting choirs, both at services and for concert performances,
to mutual benefit.
As a significant landmark in Valletta, such a welcome also allows us to contribute to the musical life of the city.
Concerts are free, though a retiring collection for the Organ Restoration Fund is usually taken.
If you would like to bring a choir, please contact Fr Jeff Tel 2133 0575

Communication is an essential part of church life. Methods used in the chaplaincy range
from simple word of mouth, internal notice boards, printed information,
telephone, fax, letter, e-mail and a web-site.
Leaflets are available giving general
information aimed especially at visitors and newcomers.
A weekly pew sheet given to all attending church on Sundays and available
throughout the following week. Copies are also taken to many of those who
are unable to attend on a regular basis. It contains The Bible readings and the Collect for the week, and essential diary

The monthly chaplaincy magazine contains a wealth of information. Its circulation is approximately 200 per
month

ELECTORAL ROLL

The Electoral Roll membership

Annual General Meeting
27th April 2008
St Paul's Pro-Cathedral ~ 102
Holy Trinity Church ~ 68
The Congregation on Gozo ~ 58
TOTAL 228
Electoral Roll Officer: Mrs Gill Doe
|
The
Electoral Roll is a list of baptised lay members of the Church of
England over the age of sixteen who live in the Chaplaincy or attend
regular public worship there, and who form the church’s register of
electors; it is the list of people qualified to attend the Annual
General Meeting where questions are raised on chaplaincy matters and
matters of general church interest, and where the Chaplaincy Council is
elected.
The laity have their place in every aspect of church life, including
its doctrine and services. An enrolled member is a voting member of the
Church of England and so helps to ensure that the Chaplaincy Council,
the Diocesan Synod and the General Synod are fully representative of
its members.
If you wish to join the
roll please ask for an application form from the Electoral Roll
Officer, the priests or the Chaplaincy Wardens .
When is a new Electoral Roll prepared?
A completely new
Electoral Roll has to be prepared every six years starting from the
year 2007. Notice announcements are given in the Churches to the effect
that the new Electoral Roll is being prepared, and those on the old
roll are reminded of the need to re-apply for inclusion on the new one.
In other years the roll undergoes a process of annual revision to keep
it up to date. There is no need for fresh forms to be filled in by
anyone already on the roll.
When is a name removed from the roll?
This happens if
someone dies, becomes ordained, requests that his/her name be removed
or if someone no longer lives in the Chaplaincy and has nor been a
regular worshipper for six months.
The Annual General Meeting
This takes place in April of each year. Here, the priests,
chaplaincy wardens, chaplaincy council and other members of the church
present
published reports to the whole church. Members meet to listen and
discuss
finance, present and future aspects of church life, besides the
election
of various posts. It is at this time questions and answers take place
to produce a healthy church environment for the future.

FINANCE
|
|
Our
Chaplaincy is 100% self-supporting. We rely entirely on our own
giving and fund-raising efforts, together with donations from visitors
and friends, to meet our expenses. If you can help by giving a
donation, we would be very grateful.
We can benefit by an extra 28% if you
are a UK taxpayer and your donation is 'gift-aided'.
Please send a
cheque (in Sterling or Euros) to:
The
Treasurer
St Paul's Pro-Cathedral,
Independence Square, Valletta VLT 1535, Malta,
made payable to:The Anglican Chaplaincy in Malta and Gozo.

Gift Aid
To qualify it is neccessary that you pay an
amount of UK income tax and / or capital gains tax at least equal to
the tax that the Diocese in Europe reclaims on your donations in the
tax year (currently 28p for each £1 you give). If you pay at the higher rate you can claim
further tax relief in your Self Assessment tax return. If you are unsure whether your donations qualify
for Gift Aid tax
relief, ask the Diocese in Europe (see links page). Or you can
ask your local tax office for leaflet IR113 Gift Aid. A Gift Aid Declaration form, can be sent to you
by our Treasurer.
Christian Stewardship
From Advent Sunday 2005, the members of the
Chaplaincy, committed themselves to
giving regularly via a standing order or by using weekly envelopes,
because the
Church can no longer rely on haphazard donations or loose change
collections.
The results have been very encouraging, an achievement made by people
facing the financial facts that affect our Chaplaincy, and in many
cases increasing their giving. We all have to be realistic both in
giving in a regular, planned way as well as giving as a sign of our
commitment.
Please consider adding a codicil to your will, making a bequest to the
Chaplaincy. We enjoy the gifts from the past and we should continue the
tradition for the future.
For further information or
assistance, please contact Father Jeff Williams.
