Who We Are

Welcome to our web site

Once safely on shore, we found out that the island was called Malta.
The islanders showed us unusual kindness. Acts 28

DIOCESE IN EUROPE
THE CHURCH OF ENGLAND

The Chaplaincy enjoys charitable status in Malta. Voluntary Organisation 0408

St Paul’s Pro-Cathedral in Valletta, Holy Trinity Church in Sliema and the congregation of Our Lady and St George in Victoria Gozo are Anglicanism’s expression in the Maltese archipelago. We are part of the Diocese in Europe, which is the most recently created of the forty-four dioceses of the Church of England. As the Anglican Church in Malta and Gozo we exist primarily to serve members not only of the Church of England but also of the rest of the Anglican Communion. We  welcome English speaking Christians of other denominations. We have members of the Church who are Maltese and from other countries often here whilst working, studying, or on holiday.

OUR MISSION STATEMENT

St.Paul’s Pro Cathedral, Holy Trinity Church Sliema and the Congregation of Our Lady and St George Gozo seek to worship God living together authentically and sensitively with a lively and challenging faithfulness to Word and Sacraments. Welcoming all who seek the direction of the Church of England, we pledge to uphold the Christian Values of humility and honesty, determined to find Christ’s way for us and all within the family of the Diocese in  Europe in an ever changing world.

WE WELCOME MEMBERS OF OTHER CHRISTIAN CHURCHES TO OUR SERVICES

The Church of England invites to Holy Communion all baptised persons who are communicant members of other Churches, which subscribe to the doctrine of the Holy Trinity and who are in good standing in their own Church. Those prevented by conscience or the rules of their own Churches from receiving the Blessed Sacrament are invited to receive a blessing.

The Anglican Community is the second largest of the Christian Denominations in Malta which is a predominantly Roman Catholic country.

There is also a Union of Scots Church and Methodist congregation, a German Lutheran congregation, and others.

FINANCE

Our Churches are 100% self-supporting. We rely entirely on our own giving and fund-raising efforts, together with donations from visitors and friends, to meet our expenses. If you can help by giving a donation, we would
be very grateful.

Please consider Gift Aid.

Gift Aid

To qualify it is necessary that you pay an amount of UK income tax and / or capital gains tax at least equal to the tax that the Diocese in Europe reclaims on your donations in the tax year (currently 28p for each £1 you give). If you pay at the higher rate you can claim further tax relief in your Self Assessment tax return. If you are unsure whether your donations qualify for Gift Aid tax relief, ask the Diocese in Europe (see links page). Or you can ask your local tax office for leaflet IR113 Gift Aid. A Gift Aid Declaration form, can be sent to you by our Treasurer.

Christian Stewardship

Please contact the Treasurer or Wardens for more information about joining in REGULAR GIVING through the weekly envelope scheme or by standing order.

Please consider adding a codicil to your will, making a bequest to the Anglican Church in Malta & Gozo. We enjoy the gifts from the past and we should continue the tradition for the future.
For further information or assistance, please contact the Treasurer on 9980 7653 (Dean Bucknell)
